I just finished watching the BCS Tostito's Fiesta Bowl this evening. It was a fantastic and competitve football game between the University of Texas and Ohio State University that came down to the wire. To my satisfaction Texas won! Why Texas you might ask? I guess the color orange is cool! Even though the football game was exciting, what was even more exciting for me was how the players who were interviewed from Texas gave credit to the Lord.
Three players were interviewed and before they said anything each commented in their own way about how they felt about Jesus Christ....see below:
One player said, I want to first give credit to God for being here today and our victory. Another said,
Then they all went on to say how excited they were about winning and gave credit to others. It was amazing. They knew in advance the one thing they wanted to say before anything else and that was their greatfullness to Jesus Christ.
I think we all know that Jesus Christ is the reason for why we can do anything? Jesus Christ is the one who empowers us each day to live and have success, but do we make a special point to give Him credit? The Texas football players took the next step to make it more personal by publically giving credit to Jesus Christ in front of millions of television viewers. So here is my challenge to us all.
- Thank Jesus daily for life and the way He made you.
- Make it a point by taking opportunities to thank Him publically in front of people or individuals and be specific.
- Give Jesus credit daily in your quiet time with Him and in your journaling.
- Write Jesus a letter of gratefullness every once in awhile-keep it as a reminder.
- Do some reasearch in the New Testament to find where people publically acknowledged Jesus Christ for their accomplishments.
Make 2009 a great year!
